Zaleha Ismail, a brilliant and a multi-talented singer-guitarist in Singapore began playing the guitar at the age of 16. She graduated from the Singapore Young Musician Society led by the well known local music conductor/musician Mr Alex Abisheganaden.
Zal started singing and playing the guitar professionally within less than 2 years of coaching by the late Maestro Ricardo Mendez from the Philippines. She now has a strong repertoire of over a thousand songs that she sings in more than 15 languages! Her forte is in Latin music and she sings fluently in Japanese and Korean (Hangeul). Her repertoire includes, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Greek, Maori, Tagalog,Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian and ,many more.
She has performed in many leading hotels and clubs here in Singapore for the past 20 years to date. Zal has been featured widely in both local and the foreign media, including magazines in Japan, Indonesia, and the newspapers in Korea. Her strong following of loyal fans from all around the world still visit her regularly wherever she performs.
Zal puts her guitar talents to meaningful use as she mentors budding guitarist as a guitar teacher during the day.
In 1996, She represented a team of 20 ambassadors from Singapore to perform at Hilton Hotel in Seoul, Korea; an event organised by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board to promote Singapore.
Zal is also a sports enthusiast; excelling in Kung Fu( Khong Chang) the art of self defence as a black belt instructor. She is also a veteran in golfing scene; attaining single handicap in less than 5 years since she started playing in 1992. She even achieved the rare 'hole in one' in 1994 and was a three times club champion at her regular (home club) Tanjong Puteri Golf and Country Club in Johor, Malaysia.Zal's multiple talents are her trademark as she strives for excellence in all the areas of her passion.
